IF : Save

"I've saved these beautiful blue things just for you, and perhaps when the moon is full and rises just above the bower we'll have our magical encounter. I'll be right here, waiting. I'll save this spot for you."

Read about Bowerbirds here. If I were a bird I'd totally be attracted to these guys because blue is my favorite color!
For the Illustration Friday prompt: "save."

  1. Oh, my heart melted when I saw this post, because i knew instantly what kind of bird it is!! I LOVE these birds! It is so sweet - they build this archway and decorate it with all blue treasures (flowers and feathers, etc) to try to woo a female. If the object of his desire crosses the threshold, he has won her heart and they mate! If I were a bird, i would TOTALLY fall for that every time! :) Hee hee hee...I guess I'd be an easy bird.

I love that you painted this on patterned scrapbook paper. Makes a beautiful backdrop.

  31. Wow Laurel! What a magical post. The painting is exquisite, the poetry so romantic and the article on Bower birds was so cool. I love those birds! Their mating ritual is fascinating.

Did you see "Planet Earth" when they featured the Birds of Paradise? The males have an extraordinary dance they perform for the females. Birds are so cool!
