IF : Primitive

I had to pull from my files for this week, not because I couldn't think of anything but because I'm too busy with work and other commitments right now. But I think this image fits as a primitive portrait. It's a collage I did last year that all came together without a plan. I resonate with nature in a spiritual way. Any time I'm feeling out of balance I go outside to be in touch with something bigger than myself and my problems. I almost always come away feeling reassured and hopeful. I call this collage "My Sacred Self." I hope it resonates with you.

  17. this is lovely; very earthy. I also like the cactus sofa. what a kick. reminded me of a sofa that was on a porch of a neighbor of my grandparents house when I was a kid. it was made of horsehair and I hated sitting on that thing; so uncomfortable... plus... it used to be a horse; ya know?

  21. This definitely resonates with me. There you go again, always reminding me of my higher self. It's so easy to get earth bound, especially spending so much time in the concrete jungle of the San Fernando Valley. Thanks for the reminder in such a visually beautiful way.

  26. I love this piece. I was sure I had already commented on it, so I'm glad you came by my blog or I probably wouldn't have remembered to come back. It's interesting to me that it's a collage piece, and yet there's a painterly quality to it. The elements of the collage were very well chosen in terms of colour, texture and proportion. The effect is very beautiful... and haunting.
