Happy Independence Day

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck~

And a very special happy birthday on July 4th to our friend Marianne who turns the big five-oh! Stop by and give her a birthday wish!

Have a safe and happy 4th, my friends.

  6. Happy 4th to you too! In spite of our imperfections, your choice of a quote is a description that should make us all proud of our country.

    And always proud of those who protect us!

    Thanks for forum!

  14. i hate to be contrary lo, but i don't agree with erma on this one. there may be an americana where families (like mine) can gather and celebrate, but there are too many families who do not have backyards at all and do not have the means for potato salad on a warm summer day. too funny that i am posting a rare political statement on your blog (forgive me pp xo) but there really are two americas, or three, and opportunity is too scarce these days

    sigh...;

    love
