"I have often wished I had time to cultivate modesty...but I am too busy to stop thinking about myself."
~Edith Sitwell~
oooh, not my best bag lady! I'm so out of practice, but we have to show the bad with the good. And she still has attitude, right? She looks like many older women who are trying to hang onto youth. Go for it if it makes you feel good! :)
pencil and colored pencils on grocery bag.

love the colors in this one and the quote is perfect. Happy Spring my friend!
ReplyDeleteJust found you thru IF. Aren't paper bags a wonderful color to work in? Reminds me of my childhood...we did lots of coloring on paper bags. Love your birds' nest pieces, too!
ReplyDeleteLove this one. The quote is fun and so is the lady. The pretty ones are the ones we would like to be this is the one we are. Hanging onto youth means it is still there on the horizon. I am scared when I don't hold on it will disappear with the sunset forever..........

I love it, especially the hair!
ReplyDeleteThere's something to be said for holding on to youth.
ReplyDeleteOoooh..so glad you went with THIS ONE! She looks wonderful - red hair and sun dress! I TOTALLY agree with CS.....there's nothing wrong with holding on to youth - age is all in the head! And if it's still on the horizon - it's still THERE! If Stevie Nicks can do it at 60-something - so can we all!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou really do the most exsquisite things on paper bags! (And I am not saying this because you are my BS!)
I am proud to know an artist like you and hold you close to my ♥!
Love,
♥ Robin ♥
I'm hanging on to youth with my teeth! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI love working on brown paper; it takes media so differently than other substrates.
Nice work Lolo!
XXOO~~♥
Anne
she's a great bag lady... hanging on to youth is okay as long as they're old enough to vote (rim-shot)
ReplyDeleteI agree about holding onto youth! Hmmm, maybe I should reword the post so I sound more positive about it. I still say "go for it!"
ReplyDeleteBut not in a pathetic way if you get my meaning ;)
Ah.. I think its a great bag lady.
ReplyDeleteLove your work as always.
Your "imperfection" is wonderful! We always want every piece to be perfect, it's the imperfection that I love, because it's human, whereas the other is divine...something I'm not! Lol! Wonderful colors, style and source...I love it! New blog banner? You always have the best ones!
ReplyDeleteno apron wringing allowed, ms lolo!
ReplyDeletethis is an exquisite bag lady. her facial expression is as engaging as her wild hair. i'm not sure she cares about holding on to anything in particuliar and i say more power to her. myself i've made a transition from being a old young woman to being a young old woman and i'm pretty happy with that. of course, i am an aspiring babe, afterall.
i LOVE your bagladies. more more more please. you capture their personas just right.
yay to you, plus a quick smooch.
love
kj
I think it is quite nice...nice header image...not sure if I've seen it before or if it is an update of an idea posted earlier by you...
ReplyDeleteOh no,no, don't be so hard on yourself. I think it's a very nice bag lady. As bag ladies run.
ReplyDeleteShe's gorgeous!!!

ReplyDeletei do know just what you mean though lo, the way past 21 year olds shopping at forever 21, haha! oh dear.
LOVE your paper bag art!
Perfect for the theme.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see one of your bag ladies again. They all look so friendly even if they are stuck on themselves. ;)
ReplyDeletefrankly i think my life would be snappier if i dyed my hair red.
ReplyDeleteglad you acknowledge the passing of time.
kj how do I get to be an aspiring babe too?
ReplyDeleteI love this quote and I think she's great! She reminds me of someone I know - except the hair is a little less orange but not much.
ReplyDeleteGreat attitude! Love the colours and.. she's not that old!!
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely...a little rueful...as if she's saying..Oh, well, things aren't so bad..
ReplyDeleteI love the movement in this. And her inner beauty shines!
Very nice work!
ReplyDeleteShe's so happy, Laurel. I just want to jump into the bag and share space with her for a while.
ReplyDeleteI really LIKE her!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I like this very much. At the same time, it appears you've done this on just the one side. Does that make her a half-in-the-bag lady?
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many ways I do this?
ReplyDeleteLove all your bag ladies and other brown bag art!
Ha! She's so full of personality! Awesome:)
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty...anyway you look at her...:)
