Illustration Friday: Theater

"Channeling her inner Diva."

I don't have an inner Diva. I don't think I ever have. I don't feel the need to try and upstage anyone. Just the thought of that drama is too exhausting!

The world is a stage as they say, and we are all actors in a grand play until our final curtain call.

acrylic paint, colored pencils (prismacolor), patterned paper, and a sticker for the sparkly crown!

  2. Aaahhh hello:

Raven you are beautiful. Ode to the raven done by Laurel.

    Gorgeous.

You would have laughed I saw the uplifting award on someone's blog and I'm like 'made by lolo'. Can't be. Then a few people sent it to me. I was like 'I don't think so.' As in I will get it from the source.

    har har

Love it and love the raven it is gorgeous.

p.s. we are so much alike I totally hate drama and find it so boring. I always think 'they think they are exciting but they are so fucking boring.'

    Love Renee xoxo

  3. Now that I know you don't have an inner diva, I wondering what you DO have hidden away in there--or maybe not so hidden.

  5. magical my lo. love shakespeare's words too. althugh i have a sparky personality, i am not a diva at all, and like to remain on the side lines and watch first before stepping out on to that stage...although my job means i have to be 'on stage ' every day.

  6. Hi Lolo,
    Good morning to you.
I really love this beautiful piece. It's very very beautiful!
The raven is a diva no need to choose a peacock.
I think every bird and human being can be a diva, hero and heroin themself. Thanks for sharing this incredible meaningful write-out too. I love all of it.
I still remember the piece sketchout got, it's a raven on a fruit too. That's also very nice.
I think it is a great progression. I really love your raven series, please do more raven series in the future when you are free.
I really really really enjoy them.
Just look at the pattern background, the textured fur and wing, the bird's eye for her inner expression and her most precious crown.
This really raise my confidence. Thanks again Lolo:)

  18. Do you have time to read one more reaction? ;-) The bird is wonderful. I am looking closely at the feathers and how you drew them. I am learning, I hope, as I look.
Thank you again for the lovely award. I had such fun giving it away to others. Much appreciated. And Now I give it back to you, as you uplift me and you deserve it too. Diva? NO WAY.

  22. I agree about drama being too exhausting. My son (briefly, fortunately) dated a drama-queen, and it exhausted all of us.

But I had to laugh at the idea of channelling your inner diva. I have to admit, though, that if one has to actively channel it, it's not the right role. I think the real divas have it coursing through them with no need for channelling.

Having said all that, I have to say that I LOVE this picture! Beautiful image, and colors, and everything.

  30. Thanks for your comments everyone!

KJ...this piece has already been sold to a lady who owns many of my raven paintings. It was sweet of you to think of Renee though.
And Bella knew it was a sticker because she read the bottom of my post where it says what I used to make the piece :)

  44. Hey- yes- 'all the world is a stage'
Beautiful staging here! Love it all- perfect pattern backdrop, and placement of the diva - the lighting design and wardrobe- perfect too!
Hopefully when the curtain falls on this world- there's another play to come- that is at least less dark- if at all dark.

Thank you for including me in the UB Award- it's truly a pleasure- uplifting to visit your studio here and I pass on the award back to you- always a bright spot to read your kind and thoughtful comments over at my studio . (As far as me and a 'wonderful outlook'- well... I have ione at least sometimes haha).
