This is Emma. (click on her name)
She's an SPCA rescue of the Chihuahua type
and she has an opinion about everyone and everything.
In my opinion, she's right most of the time.
I love my little girl!
paper bag from Trader Joe's, colored pencil, no.2 pencil and collaged words for
Illustration Friday's prompt: opinion
Click to enlarge my little pup!
Emma is a doll and apparently a very opinionated girl! You go girl!
ReplyDeletegreat work... lovely doggie...
ReplyDeletethe color and the material of the the paper bag have made the illustration much more beautiful... a very aristic choice...
Emma is soooo cute! Great illustration about her!!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Judy
Cute and funny one.
ReplyDeleteEmma is certainly cute, friendly and can you be my friend:)
I love her ears! and the drawing on the paper bag. New artists recycling - I don't think I'll throw away a brown paper bag again!
ReplyDeletei think i would like to meet and talk to emma...
ReplyDeleteEmma is so beautiful!!! and this illustration is just perfect - I love it:-)
ReplyDeleteGreat image of your Emma. You didn't need to tell us she was of the Chihuahua persuasion your sketch captured this perfectly. I haven't seen a small dog yet that doesn't have an opinion about everything and voices that opinion.
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA! I love the "furthermore." I bet Trader Joe never thought his bags would be considered works of art.
ReplyDeleteShe is a living doll. She's adorable and yes her opinion carries weight! I love it to pieces. I bet she has a lot to say. he he he
ReplyDeleteI used to have a cat. She was half Siamese and chattered away all day long! Talk about opinions, she had one after another.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Emma and the way you've drawn her with great perspective - her ears are wonderful. I think all small dogs are very opinionated!
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable! And clever.
ReplyDeletelove it, love emma, love your work. woofs to emma and hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I can tell by her photo that girl's got attitude! Very cute illo, too!
ReplyDeletethis one made me laugh! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Love the materials and yes, I bet he'll always have the last word. My brother in Sierra Madre lives out of Trader Joes.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Emma, a gender problem there!
ReplyDeleteIt's not my fault. These guys develop themselves. All I do is try to stay out of the way.
ReplyDeleteOMG, look at the ears on this kid! Adorable...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a lovely illustration (personality really comes across) and your new (?) companion.
ReplyDeleteEmma is so cute Laurel! I love the way see looks in your pics.
ReplyDeletevery cute dog and a lovely illustration. I know you're a Tom Waits fan, I'm a little leary of asking what you think of the Frank's Wild Years song - poor Carlos
ReplyDeleteHhahaha- I agree with her too. Excellent illo here, personality- the collaged words and everything work so well.
ReplyDeleteHope Emma her dad and mom and fam have a great holiday next Thursday.
Hhaha- I'm back- but still vacant- IMO.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking :)
Cobol: I'm not familiar with that Waits song you mentioned. I went on Amazon but couldn't get enough of it to get a feel.
ReplyDeleteThe one that melts me to my core is "Martha" from his "Closing TIme" CD. I play it in the car sometimes but I have to be careful because I reeeeaaaallly get into it as if I'm the one performing! Too funny. And sad. hah!
Lovely Lolo! Love the brown paper also
ReplyDeletetrader joe's would be proud...
ReplyDelete:)
well, this is quite a different side to Tom Waits from Martha, it's a rather nasty number and I think you'll understand why it applies to your illustration, it's from the Swordfishtrombones album:
ReplyDeleteFrank settled down out in the Valley
And he hung his wild years in a nail that he drove through his wife's forehead
He sold used office furniture out there on San Fernando Road
And assumed a $30,000 loan at 15 1/4 %
And put down payment on a little two bedroom place
His wife was a spent piece of used jet trash
Made good bloody marys, kept her mouth shut most of the time
Had a little Chihuahua named Carlos
That had some kind of skin disease and was totally blind
They had a thoroughly modern kitchen, self-cleaning oven (the whole bit)
Frank drove a little sedan, they were so happy
One night Frank was on his way home from work
He stopped at the liquor store
Picked up a couple Mickey's Big Mouths
Drank 'em in the car on his way to the Shell station
He got a gallon of gas in a can
Drove home, doused everything in the house, torched it
Parked across the street laughing and watching it burn
All Halloween orange and chimney red
Then Frank put on a top forty station
Got on the Hollywood Freeway
Headed north
Never could stand that dog
Do you ever think she’s barking up the wrong tree? (Sorry!).
ReplyDeleteWonderful illo.
COBOL: Yikes, poor carlos!!
ReplyDeleteWaits can sure write the words. There's nobody like him.
Now I'm going to have to put that image out of my head.
XDD, very funny!Emma is very cute.
ReplyDeleteI also have a chihuahua (Roberta) and she also has an opinion about everyone and everything (she drives me crazy!).

A beautiful illustration. The love and acceptance are all there.
i think my dog is related… it's the ears and the attitude…
ReplyDeletelove the illo and the "blah, blah, blah" i often talk to my dog like that and she loves it…
This made me smile from ear to ear. I can hear Emma all the way up here :)

ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwwww! What a little doll. Love your portrait of the adorable Emma! Of course you've used the best brown paper bag availabe... Trader Joe's, hee hee!
ReplyDeleteWell, looking at Emma's photo, I do think I detect an air of the opinionated. We can all sniff out our own kind, eh?
Great stuff Lolo, gave me the biggest smile. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteshe looks so happy :)
ReplyDeleteI like the perspective very much and the "opinion bubble" is great. "Furthermore" made laugh :)
Great illustration. Now that you mention it, Chihuahuas do seem opinionated. I could not help myself ... I enjoyed Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
