Saturday Snippet 9...on Sunday

"Thorns and stings
and those such things,
Just make stronger
our angel wings."

~Terri Guillemets~

I'm going for a nice country drive today and stopping here. They're looking for more local artists.
We'll see what the vibe is :)

Blogger has been very very bad lately. I have been unable to leave comments for so many of you. I've been trying, I promise!

Happy and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Animal Wednesday: I Lost My Gorilla

I've been going through some of my art lately and choosing which ones to frame and sell. I have always loved this guy. I can't find him anywhere though. He should be in the box with my other paintings on paper but he's not.
I'm on my way to call the Gorilla Rescue Police.
I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, I hope your gorillas are safe and sound.

Happy Animal Wednesday!

Illustration Friday: Soaked

The sea heals me.
It nourishes my soul.
Soaked in its essence I become peaceful once more.
Everything is as it should be.♥

Animal Wednesday: Canadian Critters

Well, I'm back from my Canadian excursion to Ottawa. It was wonderful getting away and seeing my dear Uncle who turns 84 today.
Look, they have black squirrels!! I'll bet Emma would have gone nuts!

Usually my Uncle chases them away, but this guy just froze wondering who the heck I was. I think our squirrels are a bit prettier. He's kind of cool though!

He finally decided to scurry up the pine tree just in case I went psycho on him :)

This sweet little girl sits in her shop window overlooking the patio area where they sell yard items. I bought a very cool raven wall thingy for outside. I'll take a photo of it once I decide where to put it.

This is Miss Kitty, but the owners often refer to her as Miss Shi--y!
I guess she has an attitude problem. She let me photograph her for a moment though!

I guess our session is over!
We had the best meals at her house. And we finally got to meet the wonderful couple who befriended my Uncle after my Aunt passed away.
Thank you Annette and Monty♥

Here's my Uncle's Java Finch, Charlie...or Charlene, we're not sure! But what beautiful tunes she sings. So wonderful having tea with her in the morning. She flits around the cage so fast that it was hard photographing her. This is the best I could do!

And finally, one of the yummy bottles of wine I bought at their fabulous Grog Shop.
I loved the label as well as the contents :P
I'll show town pictures eventually. But for now,
Happy Animal Wednesday from Canada!

My Sunday Drive

As it is for many, Mother's Day is a hard day for me. I don't have my mother any more, and being a mother myself just wasn't in the cards.
I picked myself a bunch of daffodils from the front of the house and then set off with my camera for a leisurely Sunday drive. It was blissful!
Remember to click to embiggen the photos :)

I'm always looking for painting inspiration. I can see this on a HUGE canvas!

The stone wall at this house was just brimming with cherry trees!

I had to crop it this way to get rid of the power lines. I like it though.

One of the horses and the donkey at the historic Coggeshall Farm in Bristol, RI.

This is one of the wonderful stone outbuildings at Coggeshall Farm. I think gnomes still live there :)

I ended up driving to Sakonnet Point. It was picture perfect.

I love this shot. Those little boats are just waiting for summer passengers.

And finally, just a roadside shot. You can see that not all of the trees have noticed spring is here! They'd better hurry before the snow flies again!
I ended my drive with a scoop of maple walnut ice cream as I reflected on my peaceful day.
Just what the doctor ordered!

I'll be gone for nearly a week. See you all when I get back!
xoxo

Saturday Snippet 7

An appropriate quote, especially for me as I get ready to go to Canada midweek.
Happy weekend everyone!

Animal Wednesday Whimsy

I was going to post more zoo photos today but I realized that they depress me.
I like zoos that can give animals enough space to roam and mimic their natural habitats as best as they can. I know some zoos save animals from dying by offering them a life of captivity instead. In most cases I don't find this to be kind.
All I have to offer you this Wednesday are a couple of ATC's of mutts I made up.
I'm also including a photo of my sweet cat, Bliss who had another mini crisis which put me into a major financial crisis. She's fine and she's worth it!
Hug your fur babies. They are not going to be here forever.
On that note, Happy Animal Wednesday!!

Walking through Freeport

I was away for most of Saturday and Sunday in Freeport, Maine. I had three hours to kill while hubby was at a seminar. Freeport has gotten so commercial but I was determined to find some typical New England pieces no matter what. I have to give the town credit for keeping the architecture true with the feel of New England. Even the McDonalds was in an old salt box house!
Above is the restaurant we had dinner in and it was to die for, truly.
Blueberry glazed grilled salmon, roasted asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes!
I'll pretty much let the rest of the pictures speak for themselves with just a touch of commentary here and there.
Hopefully, I will get caught up with all of your blogs soon!

The information center

forsythias!! I have missed them.

~baskets of freshly baked bread~

These two signs made me laugh. "When Pigs Fly" is the bread shop and upstairs is the psychic (where the forsythias are.)

A sign for me ;)

A tattered flag

The closest thing to a fine art gift shop. I found a hundred things I wanted to buy for friends! Very pricey but wonderful. Peek inside!!

L.L.Bean, of course.

A sweet face and wagging tail

Another sweetie

Oh that Maine humor!

And finally, who knew?? I could have a new career!

Happy Monday everyone. Thanks for walking with me.♥

Illustration Friday: Lesson

Raven taught her lessons she could never learn from people.
Raven is her totem. Her spirit guide. Her connection to the natural world.
