When we find ourselves in the middle of a storm, sometimes we just have to sail through it and trust we'll come out the other side.
Happy Weekend Everyone!
Acrylic on canvas for Illustration Friday's prompt: sail
(The original is so much moodier and darker than it shows here. For sale in my Etsy shop!)
Perfect!! I love the song and your illustration lightens the heart.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
that's really nice. love the lighting on the grass. - dot
ReplyDeleteI'm almost sure that red balloon will weather the storm. Nice analogy... and solution for this topic, at times it is good to sail through moments.
ReplyDeleteAlso enjoyed you Etsy store very much :)
Wow! I absolutely LOVE this. You create a wonderful sense of mood. Tonite I am sort of feeling like a determined red ballon sailing through the storm.
ReplyDeletewow very moody, did you ever see the movie, Le Ballon Rouge, this kinda reminds me of it, you should see it if you haven't.
ReplyDeleteI love your dark, moody sky and the position of your cheery balloon way off to the side. Brilliant! So much truth to this. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteYou do beautiful skies! Just hope your own are full of sunshine. Do you add anything to your acrylic paint (medium, etc)? Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteoh wow...I love your take on the theme this week ...beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comments everyone! In spite of this gloomy-skied post, my skies are sunny :)
ReplyDeleteI thought of this at the last minute becasue you know I like to go for the "unusual." This was a twenty minute painting, if that!
Connie, I use acrylics out of the bottle and mix my own colors. There aren't any other mediums used on this piece. I love painting skies and just scumble them in, wet on wet! tress are my next favorite thing to paint :)
this is fantabulous as always.i do so love your work...and i needed those words right now. spot on. lotsa hugs and wfs to you often and now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeleteCan't have too many skies or trees! Will send you a photo or two of some work from this last week's illustration class.
ReplyDeleteLove the impressionistic style here and just the right touch of red. Hope you're having a good weekend Laurel!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful - and what lovely thoughts you have with this.
ReplyDeleteThis year has been like that for me and I will try to remember this wisdom.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous work, great sentiment. Coasting and sailing are vastly under rated and under practiced.
ReplyDeleteI love the moodiness, the colours in the grass and the contrast of the red. It is hopeful :)
ReplyDeletei really like what you said. these days are quite stormy and sometimes its too tiring to beat againts teh strong winds
ReplyDeleteI love that your art has depicted a mood of "sail" and described the notion of how we weather storms, beautiful indepth work.
ReplyDeleteI posted a seond "sail" - go take a look and then found yours and had a good chuckle. Linked to yours.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to come here and get to listen to Ms Billie, one of my all time favourites! And it's the perfect choice for your suggestive and beautiful illo.
