IF : Foggy

There's nothing like finding a place of solitude to clear your foggy head.

I love painting skies that are moody, like this fog-laden vista on an early autumn morning. This is an 8"x 8" canvas I just finished for my "3 Squares" show opening at Studio Lolo Friday, July 18th. I used acrylic paint, gel medium and gold leaf. This one just happens to fit this week's topic!

Happy weekend everyone!

  3. Already enjoying the music! I thought this would be just the word for you and I love your image. I was, in fact, thinking of you as we drove home though the wild Scottish hills today. (Google Cairngorms). Now I'll get the G&T and go back to the music! Have a great weekend.

  5. this is just simply beautiful, thank you for moment of serenity (now) in this hectic morning.

hmmm, no barking this time, I guess the coco-loco lab likes Sinead (as do I and the Chieftains too).

  6. Mmmmm, I do love me some Sinead and Chieftains! Couple that wonderful Irish music with this gorgeous, moody painting and I'm all set for the weekend.

Hmmm, I wonder how long it would take to get to your neck of the woods. It would be so cool to see one of your shows!

  9. The colors are so soft and foggy. I like the way the light just peeks between the clouds and the hills.

  21. This topic is great. Since I love clouds, the sky and fog, I got my fill of beautiful and fantastic interpretations. I like that gold leaf. I am so technally challenged in art, I have no idea how it is done.

  22. Gold leaf is a striking addition. Nice combination. I particularly like the light shining on the horizon.

  25. When I biggered this, the gold leaf section looked very much like some of the Mars Cover-Up photographs I was looking at last night. Photographs where certain areas appear as ancient cities, Sedonia for example. Very nice this! Good job Laurel.

  35. You have beautifully conveyed the mood through the expressive sky. The lone figure in the midst of open scenery hardly looks desolate. She seemed enwrapped in quiet tranquility … serenely content.
