Illustration Friday: Pale

The room isn't much to speak of, really. Four walls of unevenly faded wallpaper, pale from the light that slips in on bright days.

But it's the view from the small window that speaks to my heart, and I stay longer than I should.

patterned paper, acrylic paint, a touch of colored pencil, graphite.

  2. Sweet. A genuine sense of wonder in this pale room. We chose the same hue of blue for our IF :)

  13. Thanks everyone! I went a little heavy with the white glaze now that I look at it. You almost have to enlarge it to see the pattern of the paper. I left all of my un-erased lines meaning for it to look sketchy and rough and imperfect.
    I'm far from perfect anyway!
And, I like big cats. No scrawny ones in this house :)

  19. A perfect addition to Illustration Friday, Laurel. I love the window and the cat too ... btw, did I tell about this before? Just after the holidays, my 4-year old granddaughter painted the cat pink & green! :O

  37. Thanks for your comments everyone!
It's interesting to see that some of you are seeing this as the cat's thoughts.
I see it as someone standing in the doorway looking into the room.
    I love each interpretation!

  39. I don't think I can add much here, and I love your work as much as they do, and I'm sure you can't believe that, since I'm abscent so often.
If we all had to decide which of our paintings we must live in for eternity, I wouldn't pick one of mine, it would be one of yours Laurel, perhaps this one. Would you give me a break on the rent?
