She was resolved to accept the past and move on with her life.
She knew this was going to be her year. She was feeling lucky for some reason.
Well this went in a completely different direction than I had planned!
Sometimes my bag ladies have a mind of their own ;)
For Illustration Friday's prompt: resolve
graphite and colored pencil on paper bag
I love your work, I love how this one has surprised you.
ReplyDeleteA lovely drawing and lovely thought. To accept the past and move on, this is a big and sometimes difficult thing. Something I too need to do....be well, suki
ReplyDeleteI love the way you are making your illustrations now, Laurel, on paper bags. It's not only a nice gesture to the Earth, but also, it's a marvelous base for drawing.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2009!
Such a nice drawing and thought..I also have a weakness for drawing on bags, they are actually very decorative as a base for work!
ReplyDeleteThis is very introspective, although i feel some tension with the cliff in the background! I hope the resolution is one that feels good! I love your "bag ladies." There's something about the brown paper that adds to the beauty of the drawings. Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteglad i got a big screen to get the full affect of this pic. like how the die cut of the bag worked part of the moon for the drawing. Woman is fantastic her expression is like how i feel. like the ruffly front on her shirt and her great mane of red locks on her head. i think this style is really working for ya.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting Lolo:)
ReplyDeleteLoving the flying star to spark the joy and glory of this piece.
Nothing wrong with a girl who has a mind of her own. Love the sentiment and nice drawing and color.

ReplyDeleteI agree with her... despite how things seem overall, I feel like this is going to be a good year. Well, I intend to land on my feet, anyway, even if I fall off a cliff, hee hee!!
ReplyDeleteAs always, love the bag art, it's so rich and just the right amount of quirk. I love her flowing, curly, red locks too.

ReplyDeleteto accept the past... a brave and mature decision...
i love her hair. the movement is perfect.
ReplyDeletethat cliff says a lot to me. scary knowing what's over the edge, there.
She has a very contemplative look on her face... one that speaks of decisions being made.
ReplyDeleteThat cliff is a little ominous, however...
Reading over the comments, I see that you used the same word for the cliff...
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... haven't we all been there. The piece looks within, debating between choices. I love how the brown paper bag really brings out the color and gives the image a POP!
