Okay fellow "IFers", I've finally come up with a date for my "Best Of Illustration Friday" show after much encouragement from many of you as well as my friends here at home. It will be one year since my first post on October 15th, so being the way the calendar falls this year the opening will be Friday, October 12th with a wine reception. It will also be the night of the Art Walk in Pacific Grove, so there will be many more galleries staying open. It's really a fun event!
Now I have the job of choosing which illos to frame and how to display their stories next to them.I do know that I won't use any of my collages, just paintings. I'd also like to find the time to get 3 more Wallflowers done so they can be a part of the show.
I'm hoping with this much notice many of you would be able to pop in to meet me. You have no idea how much this venue has meant to me this past year! I'll keep the show up for a month, so even if you can't make it on opening night, perhaps you could drop in on one of the weekends.
Okay...I have lots of work to do!! Thanks for all of your encouragement this past year, and today still.
Wow Laurel! How exciting! I wish I could attend *sob sob* you're so far away!
ReplyDeletewow! visual mostly-blue treats!
ReplyDeletethat sounds like a great idea; it was fun seeing them mounted on the walls in the photos
ReplyDeleteNice! My wife and I go down to Monterey County often to see her familia in Salinas. Can you please send me your studio location? I would love to stop by and see your work in person if I'm down around that time!
ReplyDeleteLaurel, how I wish I was near you so I could go to the show! I really love seeing them on the wall. You should film the opening so your blog friends can see it afterward on a video. That would be cool... not exactly like being there, but close.
ReplyDeleteOh bravo, and I can't wait to see the reaction-exciting Laurel:o
ReplyDeleteWish I could be there, I'm sure it will go well!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, and what a great idea! Beautiful collection there in photo- refreshing! Wish I could make it to see in person too :( but next best thing ='s looking forward to seeing documentary of show here at your blog!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful, Laurel! I wish I could join you, but I don't see that I can make it as I have a potluck to attend that night at the yoga studio where I teach. I'm sure it will be a fantastic show, and it would even be a trip down memory lane for me ;) Plus, it would be awesome to see you and your art in person. Perhaps, some day that will happen.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and peace to you. ~Michelle
Awesome!! Wish I could go. Please update us with a post of the reception if possible. Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteYour studio is so cool and so are you, I hope other IFers are as lucky as I am and get to meet the wonderful you. As promised here are my three favorites of your work for IF. Now this was hard to come up with so I actually have three + a couple.
ReplyDelete1) Moon - The painting alone melts the heart, but the story that goes along with it makes it all the more sweet and special. This was really amazing in person, scanned on the computer doesn't give it justice.
2) Fortune - Crows/Ravens just don't get enough positive press. They are super intellegent creatures and you portray this one beautifully.
3) Phoenix - The story is heart wrenching with a happy ending, and the drawing is full of good energy and well being.
Ok, here are 4, 5 and 6
4) Twist - That pig and dog are so cute and well done. Just love the satisfied looks on their faces.
5) Hide - Very moody and compicated piece, really stunning.
6) Gravity - Well it has a kitten... what can I say.
Good luck on your show... you must post lots and lots of pictures!
Gee I sure would love to visit you that would be so neato! You are such a talent I would love to see your creations in person and you as well. Hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteYou're all so nice! Even if you can't attend, I'll have you close by.
ReplyDeleteNow...time for me to get busy! I'll certainly keep you up to date. That's if I can even pull this off. Yikes!
I love the painting of the gull,
ReplyDeleteI like your wall. It's just like my wall!
