In the soft, quiet hush of winter I can hear the voices more clearly.
I'm pretty sure it's angels. If we ask for guidance, all we have to do is listen.
Wishing all of my friends a magical holiday season!
graphite and colored pencil on brown paper bag for Illustration Friday: voices

ReplyDeleteVery nice! I really like the angle of the landscape behind her and the look on her face and your use of color. Very striking.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I believe in the work of angels, always have. Winter is the time to really listen. I've rekindled my love for winter that has lain dormant and enjoying the special season that winter is. Peace, joy and love to you and yours!

Looks like Joni Mitchel to me. YOu know I just watched a video about her. Quite amazing. She gave up her daughter to adoption but years later they were reunited. Her voice is the sound of angels.
ReplyDeleteI'm listening intently for angelic instructions on how to swim out of her perfect, hazel eyes!
ReplyDeleteShe has the same eyes that you have :) very beautiful and Thank You for your comment, it means so much!
ReplyDeletelove that new paper bag look. For years I drew on paper bags, a form of recycling or my creative engine seized up when trying to draw on good paper.
ReplyDeleteRegards, n

ReplyDeleteI agree, paper bags are a great backdrop. The texture is luscious.
I really like your paper bad drawings, Laurel. This is one of my favorites of all your pieces that I've seen. It looks like Prisma color pencils, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteMost of my art supplies are in the garage and a bit hard to get at which is why I keep resorting to paper bags and colored pencils. At least I have those tucked in a cabinet. This lady has the bag seam right down the middle of her face though. So much is wrong with this drawing! Thanks for not noticing :)
Bron...yes, always Prismacolors!!
What a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWish you could tell me the brand and number of the lipstick......
She has a myterious expression, wonder which voices she hears....
Marianne sent me here...this drawing on the bag is absoulutely beautiful..the eyes and lips grip me. Wow. Love that you are drawing on grocery bags, I do this with my grandkids...recycling.
ReplyDeleteYour words are as lovely as your art...very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think the little quirks like the crease add to the art... I really do like your brown bag pieces. You could do a show with all bb creations.

Exquisite! And I think I read somewhere than when we try to remember something or listen for something, we tend to look up. So you've got her expression just right, too.

ReplyDeleteGreat work! I'm all for using paper bags or whatever is at hand. Found materials bring their own story to the work. Happy Holidays!
