I saved this little Hummer from the jaws of a cat. After warming it up and checking the wounds, it sat in my hand for a short while, gazed up at me as if to say thank you and then it flew away.
I watched it for a while knowing who it was by the rumpled feathers. It came to me twice more, inches away each time. I know it understood what I did.
I'll never forget this moment.
