I Spy with my cat eyes
Eight fat birds high in the sky
If I should wake before I die
Please, oh please put them in my pie!
Not my usual 'sweetness and light.' I'm feeling melancholy today. I can't put my finger on why, but today doesn't feel good. Tomorrow is another day, thank goodness!
acrylic and colored pencil on patterned scrapbook paper, collaged birds from an ad, and awesome letter sticker dots! Click to enlarge the scary cat.
Love the poem...hehehhe. Illustration is wonderful, too. A kitty's dream.

ReplyDeleteDark side or not, this illustration is wonderful - full of character! I often think the dark side makes for more interesting art.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you want to catch in the sky yourself? HAHA, don't we all draw ourselves in every piece of art. Thanks for your comment too.
ReplyDeleteIf you didn't click to enlarge the cat, please do, both colors and detail are great.
Beautiful painting!

ReplyDelete-thanks for your thoughts on "how to comment"...I'm still unclear, as I like the banter of a scrolling batch of comments, know what I mean? All that gets lost when hip hopping around to other blogs....though I do skip around a fair bit.
Wonderful job! I certainly hope you're feeling better today. I know what you mean though, some days just stink no matter what happens.
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful piece, Laurel!
ReplyDeleteThe eyes are really very friendly and warm [and quite stunning!].

ReplyDeleteyour visit always makes me feel so good! thank you very much...by the way i love cats! (sorry...my english isn't very good)
ReplyDeleteIt's darling even in the ploy to eat those birdies. It's okay to be a little blue, as we can't be in the light all the time! I've been feeling it too lately, sometimes change in season brings it on. Take care
ReplyDeleteAwesome piece! Hope the "tomorrow" was bright for you. Nature can be hard to accept sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI love the expression on the cat's face. this is such a great piece with a wonderful combination of elements. I don't see anything dark kere, but sometimes things feel that way when you're down. I do hope that by the time I'm posting this, you're back to feeling fine!
