" Summertime, and the livin' is easy. Fish are jumpin' , and the cotton is high...."
This is all I could think of because I'm freezing here in central California. I miss the temps being in the 80s , although it hardly ever gets that hot here. I just miss being warm! I left New England to come to a warmer climate, but instead it's above record temps back home, and quite chilly here. The whole planet is having screwy weather. Probably global warming, sad to say.
I don't like to complain, but I didn't like this week's word. I was in a bad place in the 80s, so I didn't want to dredge any of that stuff up. (Thought I'd spare you!) So I went with weather...and one of my favorite songs came to mind, "Summertime." I NEVER, EVER do art on the computer because I don't have a clue about any of it, but I bought a greeting card program and played around with it and this is what I did. Oh well, at least I did something !
I'm a warm temp person myself, so I can definitely relate. Anyhow, what a cool surreal piece you've got here.
ReplyDeleteIt's not hard to imagine what's running through that cat's mind! Nice illo!
ReplyDeleteNice take on the topic. Reminds me of the visuals in a van sant movie. Strange how california is cold and georgia in the 80s. Is it really January?
ReplyDeletei like the greens in your illo and those little bed of flowers.
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteI could use some of those 80s.
My feelings about the decade were much the same! And the 80s are perfect, weatherwise, even for those of us who like snow! Nice job!
Great take on this week's challenge :) Love those fishes and the cat just gazing. Wonder if the kittie will try to catch?
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been spared good weather here where I am at either - been raining buckets. Kinda scary that this 'global warming' is taking into effect at full swing now.

ReplyDeleteHahaha very cool- not the weather- but your submission here. Looks like you had some fun with it.
ReplyDeleteYeah- one of my favorite songs too- J. Joplin's version is awesome
Thanks for your nice comment, and for you and your husband trying to figure out who it is.
A lovely, lazy, dreamy time.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I'm a warm weather, Janis Joplin fan myself, who didn't care for the 80's either. Original and well done!
ReplyDeleteLaurel, this is so cute!! Ahh...I missed the 80s as well!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Great take on the topic! :-)
ReplyDeletevery cute. i love the colors and the warm happy feeling it gives you. (^.^)
ReplyDeleteI love this collage and your clever take on the theme. The 80's was a weird time for the whole country, in my opinion. I'm freezing up here in the PNW, too! So unusual, but with global warming....
ReplyDeleteOne more thing - I honor you for trying something new- and playing with digital art :)

I think your illustration is nice. It has a great dreamlike feel to it.
ReplyDeleteAbout the weather yes, it is freezing here, finally -22º Celcius [F?]
ReplyDeleteI am definately NOT a cold temperature person, but the temperatures here [Canada, Quebec] were so warm for the time of the year, that I [and many others] got seriously worried..]
Your illo really shows warmth, I hear the flies buzzing.. beautiful fish!
I agree! I love 80s temps. This cat must be in heaven
ReplyDeleteI hear that! It's so cold here in AZ, it's abnormal! Love how the cat person is staring at those fish...
ReplyDeleteif i could live the rest of my life with weather being in the 80s, i would die a happy lady.
ReplyDeleteI'd tried earlier and my comment disappeared, I think it's my server, acting strange lately.
ReplyDeleteYour illustrations are always full of fun and there's a quiet charm to them, this is no exception, but more of a quirky charm. Love the curious gaze from the cat, as to what are those fish doing moving through the air.
Funny and so much fun to see and I love the song, it works with this piece perfectly.
Fine and fun!
Very surreal, reminds me of some good old MTV :)
ReplyDeleteNice illo!
great illustration! cute fish! It's still in the 30s up here in san mateo county... but at least we don't have a rainy winter like usual :)
